Raja Ravi Varma painted three forest nymphs which served as exemplar paintings for the printing of chromolithographs at the Ravi Varma Press. This painting was used to print the chromolithograph 'Vasantika'. Vasanta means spring and hence this Spring-nymph is seen in a forest and carries a bouquet of flowers in her hand.
